There are hundreds of engineering colleges in India that have given shape to countless minds till the time and will continue to do so till eternity. Gamble with 50 free spins no deposit required. But there are a very few, who have transformed rural lives from dust to diamonds. KITS Ramtek has been one such hero that helped set the definition of Quality Higher Education for rural India.
Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science, Ramtek (popularly known as KITS Ramtek), is located in Ramtek, a small town of Nagpur District in Maharashtra (India). Popular for its religious and spiritual significance, Ramtek is one of those few places where lord Rama took shelter for almost 4 months during his exile of 14 years. Jain temple, Kalidas Memorial are some of many elements that add great importance to this place.
But apart from its spiritual significance, there is one precious aspect that takes its importance to another level. It has been the constituency of the 9th Prime Minister of India, Late Sri. P.V. Narsimha Rao (Father of Liberalization in India, an expert of 17 languages)! The fact that Late Sri. P.V. Narsimha Rao was elected Member of Parliament (M.P.) from Ramtek constituency twice in a row (1984-1989,1989-1991), is hardly known to people.
KITS Ramtek was founded with a vision to provide quality education for the rural population of Maharashtra. But soon the fire of its excellence spread in the country that attracted students from different parts of India, students from different walks of life. Several people can be given credits for this, but there are some names whose restless hustle transformed this vision into a Possibility.
Late Sri. P.V. Narsimha Rao, Founder Chairman Late Sri. V. Rajeshwara Rao (Former M.P. Rajya Sabha), Founder Principal Sri. K.V.N. Appa Rao, President Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, and many more led this mission from the front. Ramtek being a region of great political significance, the tremendous contribution of Late Sri Madhukar Kimmatkar and many other local heroes gave a boost to the establishment of the institute.
Engineering colleges are generally judged by their placement rates which ultimately determines the quality Engineering minds that are incubated in it. It was no wonder that KITS Ramtek had an excellent placement record in the past. Many of students from this institute are now working in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world. Alumni won’t deny the fact that the institute was at its full glory at the time when Dr G. Thimma Reddy was the Principal.
There is so much in studies that depend on the environment that surrounds you. KITS Ramtek is surely one such place when it comes to the campus ecosystem. These 50 acres of the premise is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful campuses of India. The moment you enter the gate, the greenery of the campus captivates you. Departmental buildings, Library, Hostels, Canteen, Staff residences no matter where you go, everything looks well organized.
Let’s look at some of the X-factors of KITS Ramtek:
- Awarded A-grade by the Govt. of Maharashtra
- ‘Best Infrastructure in Maharashtra’, 2014
- The entire campus employs Rainwater Harvesting Scheme
- Best Library in the region
- Dept. of Atomic Energy funding for Civil Engg. Department
- Well planned infrastructure
- No carbon footprints
- History of Placements had been excellent.
- They are known for the teaching and record of completing the syllabus on time.
- Safe campus for Girls
- Hostels, In-campus WIFI, Dedicated Bank, High-grade security.
It is very unfair to expect a system to work forever the way it has always worked. KITS Ramtek has witnessed many ups and downs. There was a period when everyone used to admire Engineering as a career option. But this was soon hit by the saturation and the increasing unemployment rate. Many colleges were swept-off in this tide. Top players survived, some had to pull their shutters down.
KITS Ramtek faced a slight decline during this period. There might be several reasons behind this as known to those who are somehow connected with the institute. It was a saddening situation for someone like me, being an alumnus.
Tough times do not last forever. Which storm could shatter the dream that our former Prime Minister saw!! Despite the falling interests of aspirants in Engineering, the institute has been performing well in terms of campus placements. As per the statistics provided by the Training and Placement Department, 226 students were placed in different companies during the session 2018-2019. Recent placement statistics are still being counted.
This is definitely not a point where the administration and the faculty can take a rest. This is the age of crisis and according to me, CRISIS IS THE MOTHER OF OPPORTUNITIES. Current Principal of KITS Ramtek Dr B Ram Rathan Lal has a huge responsibility at his hands to keep the flame of this great Indian dream alive.
